Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the most frequent questions we have sorted for you.
The purpose of our existence is the development of the innovation ecosystem. Simply, it’s about improving the environment for people who want to do new things. In this environment, quality education, research and development, or collaboration on new technologies, their implementation and introduction into companies are crucial. Startups, or the process of establishing and growing new companies with the aspiration to sell new products and services under their own brand, are an important part of a functioning innovation ecosystem.
Every year we expand our services to businesses. When owners of small or medium-sized businesses struggle with a strategic change necessary for their competitiveness, they turn to us. We connect them with someone in practice who has successfully implemented that change in international business. Thanks to the MSIC, they don’t have to reinvent the wheel and waste time learning something that an experienced entrepreneur can help them with very quickly. In addition, we offer a whole range of other interconnected services that clients use as needed. For example, discounted rental of spaces, capital for business financing, mentors, or shared laboratories. All these things are now available in regions that want to be globally economically competitive or are establishing similar innovation centers.
Since the beginning of MSIC’s existence, we have helped implement 951 change projects in 429 companies based or operating not only in the Moravian-Silesian Region. These companies had a turnover of over 500 billion in 2021 and employed over 47,000 people. We succeed in discovering and, above all, supporting new clients with products and services with high growth potential and the desire to sell them on global markets. One third of our settled clients collaborate with universities, and 77% have their own research and development.
The Regional Innovation Strategy of the Moravian-Silesian Region (RIS MSK) is a document that forms the basis for supporting research, development, and innovation activities in the Moravian-Silesian Region. This strategy has been applied in the region since 2010 and was updated in 2012 with validity until 2020. In April 2021, a new Regional Innovation Strategy MSK was approved with validity until 2027. The coordination and implementation of the RIS MSK have been entrusted to the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Center Ostrava, a.s. since July 2017.
MSIC projects relate to 5 areas of strategic change within the RIS MSK. These are Entrepreneurial Region (Goal: To increase the business intensity in the MSR), Talent Attraction Management (Goal: To stop “brain-drain” and attract highly qualified professionals to the MSR), MSK Digital (Goal: To increase levels of digitization and robotization), ENVI Tech (Goal: To support the development of environmental technologies and the concept of circular economy in the MSR), SMARAGD (Goal: To expand the capacity of shared research and innovation infrastructure used by the actors of the MSR innovation ecosystem).
