Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the most frequent questions we have sorted for you.
The purpose of our existence is to develop an innovative ecosystem. Simply put, it’s about improving the environment for people who want to do new things. Key to this environment is quality education, research and development, or collaboration on new technologies, their implementation, and introduction into companies. An essential part of a functioning innovation ecosystem is startups, or the process of founding and growing new companies with aspirations to sell new products and services to the world under their own brand.
Every year we expand our services to companies. When owners of small or medium-sized companies struggle with a strategic change necessary for their competitiveness, they turn to us. We connect them with someone from practice who has already successfully implemented the required change in international business. Thanks to MSIC, they don’t have to reinvent the wheel and waste time learning something that an experienced entrepreneur can quickly help with. In addition, we offer a range of other interconnected services that clients use as needed. For example, discounted space rental, capital for business financing, mentors, or shared laboratories. Today, all regions aiming to be globally economically competitive have or are establishing similar innovation centers.
Since the beginning of MSIC’s existence, we have helped implement 951 change projects in 429 companies with headquarters or operations not only in the Moravian-Silesian Region. These companies had a turnover of over 500 billion in 2021 and employed over 47,000 people. We manage to discover and, most importantly, support new clients with products and services with high growth potential and an eagerness to sell them on global markets. A third of our settled clients collaborate with universities, and 77% have their own research and development.
The Regional Innovation Strategy of the Moravian-Silesian Region (RIS MSK) is a document that serves as the basis for supporting research, development, and innovation activities in the Moravian-Silesian Region. This strategy has been applied in the region since 2010, updated in 2012 with validity until 2020. In April 2021, a new Regional Innovation Strategy MSK was approved, which is valid until 2027. The coordination and implementation of RIS MSK have been entrusted to the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre Ostrava, a.s. since July 2017.
MSIC projects address 5 areas of strategic change of RIS MSK. These are Entrepreneurial Region (Goal: Increase the intensity of entrepreneurship in MSK), Talent Attraction Management (Goal: Stop “brain-drain” and attract highly qualified professionals to MSK), MSK Digital (Goal: Increase levels of digitalization and robotics), ENVI Tech (Goal: Support the development of environmental technologies and the concept of circular economy in MSK), SMARAGD (Goal: Expand the capacity of shared research and innovation infrastructure used by actors in the MSK innovation ecosystem).
