The LIFE COALA project is an international project of the LIFE program, which finances and supports projects focused on raising awareness, changing attitudes and behaviors of target groups, and protecting nature and biodiversity in open landscapes.

Specifically, the LIFE COALA project aims to increase the climate resilience of the region. There are 13 partners involved in the project. In addition to MSIC, there are also other regional agencies: MSID, MEC, the Moravian-Silesian Region itself as the main guarantor of the project, as well as the Ministry of the Environment, the cities of Karviná, Havířov, Orlová, TUO-VŠB, Nadace Partnerství, the state enterprise DIAMO, and foreign partners such as the Silesian Voivodeship and the Główny Instytut Górnictwa from Katowice, Poland.

The main task of the project is the successful implementation of the Adaptation Strategy of the MSK to the impacts of climate change, which was the first such processed strategy of the region in the Czech Republic. The project emphasizes creativity and innovation in solving the problem. Therefore, the funds will be used, for example, for demonstration and pilot activities so that the practices and approaches used will be beneficial for other implementers in the adaptation process in the region, as well as within the Czech Republic and the EU. The role of MSIC in the project is to help small and medium-sized enterprises reduce their negative impact on the environment, provided that effective management of business operations is maintained, through identifying their current state, introducing new technologies, and collaborating with leading specialists in the respective fields on the change project.

As part of the COALA project, we operate the Advisory Center for Adaptation Technologies, which offers the services listed below.
The Advisory Center for Adaptation Technologies is not the only one that will provide services on suitable adaptation measures. Each center specializes in a different area. These centers are:
Advisory Center for Landscape and Settlements – Moravian-Silesian Investments and Development, a.s.
Advisory Center for Grants – Moravian-Silesian Region
Advisory Center for Buildings – Moravian-Silesian Energy Center, p.o.
